Hidden Refine Penetration

Hidden Refine Penetration

Hidden Refine Penetration

Every character—including every hero—receives this refine contribution. Your regular weapon and two regular accessories add an invisible reduction-offset bonus at +5, +10, and +15.
Weapon
Accessory 1
Accessory 2
The +15 value is an extra 1.8%, not a 1.8% total
One slot reaches 0.9% at +5, 1.8% total at +10, and 3.6% total at +15. This is why three +15 slots contribute 10.8%, not 5.4% or 8.1%.

Refine thresholds per slot

Read “gained” as the new bonus awarded when the slot crosses that threshold. Read “cumulative” as the full hidden contribution from that slot.

Refine level
Threshold reached
Gained at threshold
Cumulative per slot
+0–+4 None 0.0% 0.0%
+5–+9 +5 0.9% 0.9%
+10–+14 +10 0.9% 1.8%
+15 +15 1.8% 3.6%

Add the three main-equipment slots

Only the regular weapon and two regular accessory slots count. Shadow equipment does not add another hidden refine contribution.

All three at +5 +5 / +5 / +5 2.7%
All three at +10 +10 / +10 / +10 5.4%
Mixed thresholds +15 / +10 / +5 6.3%
All three at +15 +15 / +15 / +15 10.8%

How every character uses it

The same hidden refine total follows the damage lane used by the attack. The character’s job or hero identity does not change the +5, +10, and +15 values.

Physical damage

Physical attacks use displayed Pen. plus the hidden refine contribution against physical damage reduction.

Magic damage

Magic attacks use displayed M.Pen. plus the same hidden refine contribution against magic damage reduction.

Special formulas

Hybrid or conversion skills follow their own damage formula, but the hidden refine contribution is still inserted once in the applicable reduction lane.

One hidden term, not two stats

The bonus behaves like penetration inside the applicable damage-reduction calculation, but it is not added to the displayed Pen. or M.Pen. values.

  • A physical damage lane uses the hidden refine term against physical damage reduction.
  • A magic damage lane uses the same hidden refine term against magic damage reduction.
  • A single hit does not receive separate hidden Pen. and hidden M.Pen. copies.
Hero-specific example

Special example: Ais and Enhance

Ais is not the reason hidden refine exists. She needs an extra note because Enhance changes how some of her magic skills use her displayed Pen.

Enhance Lv. 1 55% of Pen.
Enhance Lv. 5 75% of Pen.
Enhance Lv. 10 100% of Pen.

While Enhance is active, Ais’s special magic-damage skills count this level-scaled share of her displayed Pen. alongside her displayed M.Pen.

Displayed M.Pen. 100% counted
+
Displayed Pen. 100% counted
+
Hidden refine Added once

With three +15 main slots, the relevant Ais magic lane uses displayed M.Pen. + displayed Pen. + 10.8% hidden refine contribution. The 10.8% is not converted again and is not doubled.

Apply this to your build
Replace these inputs with your own values. With 100% displayed M.Pen., 80% displayed Pen., Enhance Lv. 10, and three +15 main slots, the reduction-offset term is 100% + 80% + 10.8% = 190.8%. This is an internal combat total, not a new character-sheet stat.

Which Ais attacks follow this rule?

Whirlwind, Lil Rafaga, Symphony of Wind and Fire, and their related special triggers use Ais’s custom magic-damage family. Her ordinary basic attack follows a separate physical path.

Do not apply the Enhance Lv. 10 “M.Pen. + Pen.” shortcut to every hit just because Ais dealt it. Follow the skill’s actual damage path.

Build checklist

  • Count the regular weapon and both regular accessories only.
  • Use each slot’s cumulative value, then add the three slots.
  • For a conversion skill such as Ais’s, confirm the enabling buff and its learned level.
  • Treat hidden refine as one contribution in the skill’s applicable lane.
  • Do not read 10.8% hidden refine as a guaranteed 10.8% final-damage gain; target reductions, caps, and other stages still matter.

Verification note

The current physical and magic damage rules use the same +5, +10, and +15 refine thresholds for every character and count the same three main-equipment slots. Ais’s skill rules are the hero-specific evidence for Enhance’s Pen. conversion; they do not make the underlying refine mechanic exclusive to her.
